"This was the last picture I took with my heart horse, Cody. He was at least 35 years old when I lost him and not a day goes by that I don't miss him."
I was browsing a Facebook post of people's compilation of their senior horses, celebrating the long lives that these equines dedicate to us. Something about this particular one grabbed me, and I almost immediately reached out. This horse spent the lass near decade of his life teaching this young woman what it means to be a horseman. Not only did he allow her to grow as a rider, but as an individual. "Lastly I want people to know that as a little girl he taught me how to be kind, strong, compassionate, patient and responsible. He helped shape me to be the woman I am today."
Thank you, Cody. And thank you to all of the equines out there, alive or deceased, who have left their mark on the world.
